Year Round Staff

Seth Coates
General Manager

Seth lives in Jackman, ME year round at Moose River Outpost.  Seth grew up camping, boating, and guiding since early in his life; and even paid for camp tuition as a teenager by building and donating cedar strip canoes with his father and brothers.  As a summer staff member at Deerfoot Lodge, in New York State, Seth quickly established himself as a key leader and problem solver.  Seth is a graduate of Philadelphia Biblical University and spent time there developing his outdoor skills at their Wisconsin Wilderness Campus.  Most recently Seth served in beautiful Bozeman, Montana as Director of Facilities and Wilderness Experiences at Yellowstone Alliance Adventures, a Christian Camp that occasionally boasts temperatures even colder than Jackman!

Seth is the proud father of three beautiful children, Mayne, Brayden, and Saydie.  He and his wife, Cathy, see their arrival at Windfall as a bit of a homecoming to New England.  Cathy grew up in Maine and Seth is originally from Massachusetts.  Both look forward to many years of service at Windfall.

Seth maintains certifications in CPR, Life Guarding, and Wilderness First Responder. He also holds a Maine Level I & II Whitewater Guide License, a Maine Recreational Guide License and a Commercial Drivers License.  Seth has taken a Top Rope Guiding course from Professional Climbing Guides Institute based out of Bishop, CA.  Seth is a White Water Merit Badge and Rock Climbing Merit Badge counselor for the BSA as well.

Seasonal Staff

Each raft season we bring in staff from all over the country.  Windfall is committed to putting guides in our boats that are safe, skilled river guides but also are professional and have depth of character.  As a part of this commitment all seasonal staff sign a substance free contract for the duration of their employment at Windfall.  Each one of our guides does at least 12 days of training with the company and is certified in CPR, and First Aid. Each guide is also Licensed by the State of Maine as a Whitewater Guide and has been trained to run our many other trips as well.
